To say that perennial U.S. Amateur Championship top finishers Melinda Huang and Asia Cycak have a contentious past would be an understatement. As many billiard internet forum readers know, the two squared-off in an non-U.S. Amateur Championship, non-APA sanctioned high stakes match a few years back.

To make a long story short, one took a substantial lead, and the other made her way out of a bathroom window… or so the story goes.  We’ll let you Google the rest of the soap opera to find out  “who did what.”

Their showdown highlighted early round action in this year’s U.S. Amateur Championship, as viewers took advantage of the live stream to get a first-hand look at the highly anticipated rematch.

The match opened in the 8-Ball set, with Cycak holding a 2-1 advantage as they moved to the 9-Ball set.  Huang took the first rack and tied the match, but Cycak rattled off three straight thereafter and closed out the match 5-2.

Huang made an unexpected early exit dropping a nail biter to Faith Thompson 5-4.  Cycak advanced to early morning action on Thursday.
