It's been a long road and some time waiting for as many as 2,000 9-Ball players who sat in attendance for Opening Ceremonies. Those in
attendance to help the tournament begin included APA National Office staff, Co-owner Terry Bell and Camel Manager Larry Kiger, to introduce tournament events.In a room that encompasses over 90 pool tables, players filled in the Tournament room at 11:00 this morning as the Ladies and 9-Ball qualifying
prizes were announced. Players were anxious as tournament play was finally was to get underway in the hopes to take home the 1st place prize of $15,000.
The first of opening speeches included a message from President,
Renee Lyle Poehlman, who said, "It's great to see the thousands of APA players who have qualified to participate in this tournament."
Kiger who also spoke, added, "The corner pocket this year is the
best set up we have ever done for the APA. Our Speed Shot contest, which players have already begun participating in, is here allowing any player to qualify for $25,000 in cash." APA staff member, Deborah
Kopacz, sang this year's Canadian and American Nation Anthems to kick-off play. The load roar of the crowd and plenty of excitement put everyone's spirits into high gear.
The Ladies and 9-Ball tournament will last over two days with final rounds on Monday, August 2nd. |
