Carolina Express Crowned 8-Ball Doubles Champions!

The tournament action shifted to the Top of the Riviera on Saturday evening for the finals of the 8-Ball Doubles Championship. Carolina Express—Jason Holmes (SL6) and James Page (SL4) of Dunn, N.C., were paired against Melissa & Joseph—Melissa Jones (SL3) and Joseph Coleman (SL7) of Madison, Tenn., in the final round. In the end, it was Carolina Express taking home $6,500 and the Champion title. Melissa & Joseph earned $4,000 as Runners-Up. The final score was 4-0.

Melissa & Joseph defeated The Incredibles—Jimmy Coleman (SL7) and John O’Donnell (SL3) of Falls Church, Va., in the semifinals. Carolina Express earned their spot in the finals by defeating One Time for A.J. —Sait Gurer (SL5) and Jeremy Fanell (SL5) of Irwin, Pa., in the other semifinal. This is Carolina Express’ second year in a row competing in the event and they said it feels outstanding to bring home a win this time. They lost their first match and fought their way back to make it all the way. They’ve been playing together for two years now.
