APA Triple Play Masters Championship
Egg Foo Young Crowned Triple Play Masters
Champions
The Triple Play Masters Championships came to an end Tuesday evening
with Disciples from Oxford, MI, members Kenneth Brisbon, Jason Kirkwood
and Brandon Ashcraft up against Egg Foo Young from Joliet, IL, members
Jeff Sergent, Ritchie Idrovo, Ike Runnels.
Team Egg Foo Young set the pace for the Championships when Ike Runnels
broke the first rack and scored a 9-on-the-Snap. Disciples Kenneth
Brisbon claimed the next two games, but Runnels followed up with
a 9 combo, 9-on-the-Snap and two consecutive Break-and-Runs. After
eight games of 9-Ball Runnels was ahead 5 to 2; Runnels also claimed
the two, and only 8-Ball games.
Team Disciples started the second match, capturing the first game.
Jason Kirkwood faced Ritchie Idrovo. Idrovo captured the next six
games, with two 8-on-the-Breaks and a break and run on the first
9-Ball game. Jason didn’t let up easy, as he came back with
three wins in a row, nearly tying the match 5 to 6. A misfortunate
miscue for Kirkwood in the final game turned the table over to Idrovo,
who sank the remaining balls claiming a victory for team Egg Foo
Young.
Team Egg Foo Young takes home $7,500; Disciples take home $3,300.
