The 9-Ball Doubles Pre-registered Championship event ended Friday evening with Dreamers, Scott Davis (SK3) and Melinda Massey (SK2) from Millville, NJ defeating Double Threat, Kenneth Loftis (SK3) and Corey Lewis (SK3) from Richmond, Va. The Dreamers took home a first place prize of $4,000; Double Threat took home $2,000.

The Dreamers had to drop a total of 14 balls while Double Threat had a goal of 19 balls. The teams were comparably matched; they played point for point until the final rack. After two racks both teams had seven points, after three, Double Threat was only behind by one, in the final rack the Dreamers sunk their final three balls and were declared Champions.

“I honestly didn’t think we’d make it past our match this morning,” said Melinda of the Dreamers, “I already had my day planned to see Vegas and everything, so this was quite a surprise!”

Participants in the 9-Ball Doubles event can be any combination of men or women with a Skill Level limit of 10. The event was a modified single elimination format; the maximum field for this event was 128 entries. A points must win chart is used based on the combination skill level of the two players on each team.
