Lumberjacks
of Independence, La., are this year’s champions in the Open
9-Ball Division of the APA National Team Championship. Lumberjacks
defeated Electric Boogaloo of Trenton, N.J., in the finals to take
home $15,000 in 1st Place prize money. In addition, Lumberjacks
also received a 1st Place team trophy, individual team plaques and
commemorative champagne. As Runner’s-up in the Open 9-Ball
Division, Electric Boogaloo received $7,000 in cash, in addition
to a team trophy, individual team plaques and commemorative champagne.
In semifinal action earlier in the day, it was Electric Boogaloo
advancing to the final round with a victory over Screaming Idiots
of Woburn, Mass. Lumberjacks advanced to the final round with a
win over Chop Stix of Newington, Conn., early on Mon. Both Screaming
Idiots and Chop Stix tied for 3rd Place, each winning $3,500 in
cash.

Sunday night were Nothing is Over of Lawerence, Kansas, Spare
Parts of Louisville, Ky., of
Clearwater, Fla. and Cruiser’s II of Stuart, Fla.
More than 200 teams 9-Ball teams (222 to be exact) from across
the country came to Las Vegas to compete in the Open 9-Ball Division.
