8-Ball Doubles Results

After two days of competition in a field of 256 teams, the pre-registered 8-Ball Doubles event concluded on August 18 with Rack'em, Inc. from Las Vegas, Nevada defeating Double Trouble of Toledo, Ohio. The match was a race to four.

Dennis of Rack'em Inc. won the lag and started the game. Pamela turned the game over to Kenny, and together with Keith, they cleared the table. Double Trouble secured the first two matches in the game confidently.

The game turned during the third match, Rack'em Inc secured their first win. After a close fourth match, literally ball for ball, the husband and wife team of Rack'em Inc. came out on top again.

Dennis broke the fifth match and the 8-ball slowly rolled into the side pocket for an 8-on-the-Break. In the seventh match both teams were on the hill. Keith broke, securing the stripes. After an intense match, Pamela called the corner pocket to win the game.

"We tried to play safe unless we had a sure out," said Keith of Double Trouble, "we just took it game by game and the getting to the next round was our goal."

Dennis and Pamela have been APA members and playing together for 9 years. "We just tried to play smart and tried to keep our cool," said Pamela of Rack'em, Inc.

The winning team took home a first place prize of $5,000; second place took home $3,000.
