2002 APA 9-Ball National Team
Championship

Fava
Bean of Hamden, Conn., are this year's champions in the Open 9-Ball Division
of the APA National Team Championship. Fava Bean defeated Road Warriors
of Albemarle, N.C., in the finals to take home $15,000 in 1st Place prize
money. In addition, Fava Bean also received a 1st Place team trophy, individual
team plaques and commemorative champagne. As Runner's-up in the Open 9-Ball
Division, Road Warriors received $7,000 in cash, in addition to a team
trophy, individual team plaques and commemorative champagne.
In semifinal action earlier in the day, it was Fava
Bean advancing to the final round with a victory over Firm of Memphis.
Road Warriors advanced to the final round with a win over Getting Spanked
of Denver., early on Mon. Both Firm and Getting Spanked tied for 3rd Place,
each winning $3,500 in cash.
Finishing in 5th Place following Round 8 Sunday night
were Schneider's 9'ners of Kalamazoo, Mich., Control Your Rack of Atlanta,
Ga., T.J. Whelan's of Philadelphia and 9-Ball Busters of Tampa.
More than 200 teams 9-Ball teams (206 to be exact) from
across the country came to Las Vegas to compete in the Open 9-Ball Division.
