APA Wedding: Ladies Night Special for One Special Lady
"I met Cheryl about three years ago. She was a bartender at a bar I played at on League nights," said Douglas Quinn, "I asked her out and as our relationship progressed she joined an APA team with me and we have been together ever since." Cheryl played on a Ladies Division team, "Out for Bucks" who competed in the 2001 National Team Championships and placed 13th. This past January Douglas and Cheryl bought the bar they met in, the Buckingham Inn Tavern in Midlothian, Virginia, which also has a full restaurant. "I know that if it wasn't for her I could not make it, I need her," said Douglas, "She's an extraordinary woman and I know I want to spend the rest of my life with her." So with a little pre-planning with APA President Renee' Lyle Lyle Poehlman and the officials with the Camel Ladies Night event they coordinated to have Cheryl at the event and her raffle number to be picked during a drawing and at that time Douglas would ask the woman he loves her hand in marriage. On August 19, 2001 to Cheryl's surprise Douglas got down on one
knee and asked her to be his wife, with shock and excitement in her voice she said "Yes." Two days later the couple met at the Riviera Hotel and Casino Wedding Chapel to say their vows and they became Mr. and Mrs. Quinn. Quinn Wedding Pics
New York Secures 4th | Robert and Alex take it easy
after capturing 4th in the MiniMania. | The Pre-registered MiniMania Open 8-Ball Doubles Event was a big hit this year. People from all over the country traveled with their partners to compete for the 1st place prize of $5,000."We enjoyed it immensely, the
competition was challenging and all of the people we met made the trip well worth it," said Robert Bevers. Bevers and his Open 8-Ball partner Alex Gomes came in 4th in the Mini event. The two play together in Queens, N.Y. out of Fuzzy's on an 8-Ball team "On The Ball." "We had a lot of matches to play," said Bevers, "we had to come
out of the loser's bracket and had to win eight games in a row to get back in the tournament." "There was a lot of pressure, especially since we were in the loser's bracket. But the pressure helped us solidify our team and as partners we began to think as one, that was a real turning point in our matches," said Bevers. "After we got our strategy down, it was easier to come back," added Gomes, "we are going to go out and enjoy Vegas a little now that the tournament is over." Bevers and Gomes take home a total of $1,500. |
