Bell wins "Founder's Feud" Although it's been years since both "Texas" Terry Bell and Larry "The Iceman" Hubbart picked up a cue stick, both decided to face-off against each other for the first time in the history of the APA here in Las Vegas at the National Team Championships. The match was a race to 7, and featured both 8-Ball and 9-Ball formats - similar to the structure of the U.S. Amateur Championship. Although both players started off a bit rusty, they quickly regained the form that
earned them the distinction of being named to Billiards Digest's "50 Greatest Players of the 20th Century." In the end it was "Texas" Terry beating the "The Ice Man" 7-2 with a strong performance. The match proved to be a real treat for all those in attendance, as it may be another 20 years before the pair faces-off again. |
