Sweaty palms, anxious nerves and a group of on-lookers - All these elements can be expected before a big match.  But this was no match, it was their wedding day.  And with the skill and grace that got them to National Team Championships here in Las Vegas, both made it through with flying colors.

After Kenny and JoAnna Cross qualified for the Molson 9-Ball Championship in June, they decided to make their trip to Vegas even more special by getting married the day before the tournament began.

“We had planned on a traditional wedding, then after our pool league one night I suggested we get married out in Las Vegas,” Kenny said.

After some consideration, JoAnna agreed that it would be a good idea.

“The only thing I said when Kenny suggested getting married at the National Team Championships was ‘We’ll discuss it tomorrow,’ and after I thought about it, I liked the idea,” JoAnna said.

Both Kenny and JoAnna have made the trip to compete in NTC before, qualifying in 1998 in the 8-Ball Open Division, but were somewhat surprised to make it this year in the 9-Ball Division.

“We were dead last in our 9-Ball Division, but got a wildcard, survived the playoffs, and won 2 of 3 matches in the spring session to get here,” Kenny said.

The newlyweds plan to make the most out of their trip to Vegas and hope to return to celebrate their first anniversary next year.

“There is just so much to do out here with the pool tournament, who wouldn’t want to come back,” Kenny said.
