Stories and Pics

We will be postings stories and pics of players here throughout the weakened. Keep checking back.

PowerBall Billiards

The APA has formed an agreement with a company that will be producing an arcade game with a billiards flavor. PowerBall Billiards will soon sport the APA logo and players will be playing by APA rules when the machines roll out. There were a few machines on hand at the National Singles Championships this year for members to try out. The APA hopes that these machines will make it into many of the bars, taverns and pool halls that currently house APA League play, so members have something to do while they are waiting to play their weekly match.

Winning Streak

APA member Josh Baker is enjoying the wins he’s earning in the 8-Ball Classic. Baker is a member from Effingham, Ill. and is competing in the Yellow Tier as a SL4. “I’m pleased with my game so far, I’m doing pretty well, I just hope my winning streak takes me to the Finals,” said Baker.

Baker just won his match 3 to 1 and earned an 8-on-the-Break patch in the first game.

Match Information

APA employee Mike Sherman works the match information boards by assisting players find the time their next round starts. He is also instrumental in updating the boards after rounds. “I just need to know when I need to be back,” said one APA member, “I need to know if I have enough time to get something to eat, I’d hate to lose on account of showing up late, assistance with reading the boards is very helpful.”

Silver Light at the End of the Tournament

Trophies glowed at the entrance of the National Singles Championships tournament room. Everyone participating in the 8-Ball Classic and the 9-Ball Shootout is competing for the opportunity to be rewarded with one of these magnificent trophies. First through third places in each tier will be awarded a trophy along with a cash and prize package.

Next Round

Florida APA members Laura Stapp and Ed Balint study the match information board to find out how they placed and when their next match will be called. Stapp and Balint played each other in the tournament, “it was a lot of fun,” said Blaint, “it’s an honor to play out here in Vegas and a privilege to make it so far.”
