Six new APA champions were crowned Saturday afternoon at the National Singles Championships in Las Vegas. Poolplayers from across North America came to the Riviera Hotel and Casino for the $200,000 8-Ball Classic and $100,000 9-Ball Shootout National Championships

AmberBock Pool Table Giveaway

AmberBock, the Official Beer of the APA, gave away a pool table during the National Singles Championships. Each participant was given an entry form in their registration packet; all entries were collected throughout the week. Saturday, during the Noon awards ceremony one name was chosen as the winner: Rick Ikuma from Henderson , NV won the table.

Player Stories

Jack & Jill Finals

The final match of the Jack & Jill Preregistered Championships saw Different Strokers from Erath, LA, teammates Virginia Decoux (SL5) and Cody Segura (SL5) head-to-head against T-Rods from Peoria, IL teammates Tina Carrigan (SL4) and Rodney Wallace (SL5). After two and a half days of competition, the field had been narrowed to these two teams competing for the $5,000 first place prize.

PowerBall Billiards

The APA has formed an agreement with a company that will be producing an arcade game with a billiards flavor. PowerBall Billiards will soon sport the APA logo and players will be playing by APA rules when the machines roll out.

APA member Josh Baker is enjoying the wins he’s earning in the 8-Ball Classic. Baker is a member from Effingham, Ill.

APA employee Mike Sherman works the match information boards by assisting players find the time their next round starts.

Trophies glowed at the entrance of the National Singles Championships tournament room.
