Every year at our National Championships some of our APA and CPA members decide to tie the knot.
Through the years our Leagues have brought people closer in friendships and in marriage. When our members marry, it is a special thing. When our members marry during one of our tournaments, it is extra special because they have chosen to do so during an APA event. We are very happy for the following couples we have found out about who decided to say their vows during the event. Members Married in Las Vegas
Vegas can be considered the “Marriage Capitol of the World”; and for two couples from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada they did just that, get married, here at the National Singles Championships in Las Vegas.
Brian and Shawna-Lee Kusmack
were married at the Riviera this past week during the APA National Singles Championships. The two met through the CPA League they play in. “We didn’t start out on the same team, our paths had crossed a few times but we did not know each other,” said Brian, “then we ended up on the same team once by fluke.” Shawna-Lee continued, “We met through a friend of mine I used to work with.” The couple was planning to get married this summer, but just decided to go ahead and get married in Las Vegas. Shawna-Lee is competing in the Camel 8-Ball Classic for the second time; she also competed in 1998. Brian played in the Mini tournaments this time around. “It was fun to get married in Las Vegas, it actually relaxed me a bit and took my mind off the tournament
a little,” said Shawna-Lee, “we are having so much fun here.” Randy and Samantha Nurse also tied the knot while in Las Vegas this past week. Both from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, they had planned to marry while at the National Singles Championships. Samantha has been a CPA member for 5 years, and Randy a member for 4 years.
Although they were not on the same team to start, Samantha actually was
on a team with Randy’s dad a few years back, through the course of playing they eventually met each other. Randy is competing in the Camel 8-Ball Classic and they both participated in the MiniMania tournaments. “We were married in the Riviera, and had planned on it for a long time,” said Samantha, “but we spent our wedding night playing pool until 2:00 a.m.!” “I enjoy the League because we meet people we would usually not meet, both at home in local games and out here at the Championships,” said Randy, “it is fun and exciting to be here.” |
