The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) Junior National 9-Ball Championships took place July 7-10 in the Huskies Den at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill. APA sponsored 28 players in the event. Champions were crowned in each of four divisions: boys age 14 and under, boys age 19 and under, girls age 14 and under and girls age 19 and under.

Both ladies divisions were won by reigning champions. Brianna Miller won the girls 14 and under division, never allowing an opponent more than one game against her. Katilyn Hall, APA player, earned a 3rd place finish and Julie Poutry, APA player, earned 5th place in the 14 and under division. Liz Lovely defeated Jauslinn Arnold for the girls 19 and under division title. APA player Tashanna Clarke-Phelan placed 5th in the 19 and under division.

Billy Thorpe was crowned a new champion in the boys 14 and under division, after a win over APA player Kevin Sun. In the finals of the boys 19 and under division, reigning champion Landon Shuffett defeated Brendan Crockett, who won the 14 and under division last year.

The winners in each division earn a spot to represent the U.S. in the 2010 WPA World Junior 9-Ball Championship.
